Fiorentina deny paying Adrian Mutu's Wages in full
After his nine-month ban, failing his doping tests three times, Fiorentina are cutting Adrian Mutu's wages down. The Italian club announced their decision on their official webpage earlier this morning!
The last time that the 31yo Romanian International was found dopped was on April 19, after the anti-doping tribunal (TNA) had found him guilty twice this year (in early January). Although Fiorentina was expected to give Mutu the boot, the club kept him on following an apology. However, they have also decided to cut his wages down.
This morning the following message was posted on Fiorentina's official webpage:
"Following the sentence from the TNA in relation to Adrian Mutu's ban, the club have asked the arbitration panel for a signficant reduction in Mutu's wages until the end of his suspension. Director Pantaleo Corvino has already informed the parties involved directly this morning.
In addition, Fiorentina would like to make it clear that the club has paid Mutu his full wages since January."
Mutu was also banned for seven months by the English F.A. in November 2004, after being tested positive for cocaine while at Chelsea FC.
Adrian Mutu is expected to return to action on 29th October 2010.
