Preview: Irish Premier League, Week 15

In anticipation of this season's Champions League big final, the Dr-Bet team introduces you to a less popular European football league! Starting this weekend, we shall provide you with betting suggestions on the Irish Airtricity Premier Division.

Bray Wanderers v Drogheda United
Friday 21/05/10 - Kick off at 20:45 CET
The bottom two clubs of the Irish Premier League table, Bray Wanderers (10th, with 12 games played) and Drogheda United (9th with 14th games played) meet tonight. Drogheda have been defeated in 9 games so far while Bray have been defeated 10 times.
Bray Wanderers have played 6 games at Carlisle Grounds without winning any of those games, while Drogheda have won once away from home, drawn once and lost 5 matches.
The stats do not favour any of the two teams. They are both in a bad state and today’s match is expected to be a poot one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a goalless draw 0-0. Let’s go with the draw here at 3.20 at Betsson

Dundalk v Sligo Rovers
Friday 21/05/10 - Kick off at 20:45 CET
The leaders of the Irish Airtricity Premier Division host Sligo Rovers. This is a very interesting game as Dundalk’s form is not the best lately! Last week they drew at home against Galway Utd while a couple of weeks ago they lost away from home, against St Patricks. In both games they were unable to find the net!
On the other hand, 7th Sligo Rovers are in massive form. They seem to have a very solid offensive line. In their last two games they have scored 6 goals (against Drogheda for the league and against Letterkenny for the EA Irish Cup). What is more, they have a very good record when playing in Dundalk’s Oriel Park with 3 wins in their last 5 games, one draw and only one defeat (back in November 2000 !).
Odds on the away win are very tempting. Offered at 3.50 (at Bet365) is definitely what I suggest you to go for.

Galway United v UCD
Friday 21/05/10 - Kick off at 20:45 CET
Galway United have played 7 Ireland Premier League matches this season at Terryland Park. On home ground Galway United have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 3 matches. This ranks the Tribesmen 8th in home team performance in the Ireland Premier League. It their last 5 games they have not managed to get more than 2 points since they have been defeated 3 times and drawn twice!

UC Dublin have played 6 Ireland Premier League matches this season away from home. On away ground UCD have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2 matches. This ranks The Students 6th in away team performance in the Ireland Premier League.

The two teams met again at Terryland Park exactly a year ago (18 May 2009) when UC Dublin won 0:2, for the EA Sports Cup. The same season (2008-09) they had won for the league too, 1:2 against Galway away from home. Tonight’s away win is offered at 2.87 (at Bet365) and I am loving it!

St Patricks v Bohemians
Friday 21/05/10 - Kick off at 20:45 CET
The leader’s of the Irish Premier League, St Patrick,  are hosting the 5th team of the standings, Bohemians. St Patricks have the second best form in Ireland at the moment with 4 wins and 2 defeats in their last 6 games. Bohemians are 6th in the form rankings with 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats.
The record has it that Bohemians nearly always manage to get points at Richmond Park. In the last 17 head-to-head matches, Bohmians have won 10 times and St Patricks only 4! I expect this little misfortune to change tonight. St Patricks have a great chance to dethrone the Irish Champions this season. They seem to be solid, so far, and the odds  on the home win are very tempting to go against them. Home Win at 3.00 at Bet365

Shamrock Rovers v Sporting Fingal
Friday 21/05/10 - Kick off at 21:00 CET
Shamrock Rovers have played 7 Ireland Premier League matches this season on Tallaght Stadium. On home ground Shamrock Rovers have won 3, drawn 2 and lost 2 matches. This ranks the Hoops Rovers 4th in home team performance in the Ireland Premier League this week. Sporting Fingal have played 7 Ireland Premier League matches this season away from home. On away ground Sporting Fingal have won 2, drawn 4 and lost 1 matches. This ranks The Fingal 5th in away team performance in the Ireland Premier League.

The two teams are more or less of the same strength, looking at the statistics after the first 14 games of this season’s fixtures. Last season, Shamrock Rovers were the runners up of the league, while Sporting Fingal were in the lower division (Irish First Division) but they won the Cup! This means that both teams play in the second qualification round of the Europa League.
Betting in favour of any of the two teams is a big risk. The safest bet in this game is the Under 2.5 goals, currently offered at 1.50 at Bet365
