Slovakian Corgon Liga Preview: Matchday 3
Slovakia's Corgon Liga kicked off 3 weeks ago! Last week we had a big game between Zilina and Slovan Bratislava, but this weekend the attention is drug at SNP Stadium for the game between Dukla B.B. and Zilina.
Dukla Banská Bystrica – MŠK Žilina , Saturday 17:30 CET
Dukla welcome the Corgon league champions Zilina at Stiavnicky today. Bystrica were last season’s the pleasant, finishing 3rd with a ticket to the European competitions. However, this season they are without Michal Filo, who joined Dunajska Streda earlier this week. The home team played a good match against Kosice, away from home, last round but were unlucky to take only a point from it. Zilina on the other hand had a slow start at their match against Slovan Bratislava when they were being defeated 0:2 at half time. Striker Ivan Lietava, however, equalized during the second half but was send off in the final minutes and therefore wont be able to play today. The players of Zilina could feel a bit exhausted too as they are after their Champions League qualification match against Litex Lovec, from which they grabbed a surprising 1:1 draw in Bulgaria.
Pick: Banska Bystrica at 2.40 at Bwin
FC Nitra – MFK Košice , Saturday 19:30 CET
Nitra is the surprising leader of the league table with two wins out of two games so far. Striker Rak made a great return after his injury and scored the only goal against Dunajska Streda (0:1) last round. Nitra were reduced to ten players after Kral saw a red card, but even after that sending off Nitra were the better side. The young team of Kosice were lucky to get a point against Bystrica(1:1) at home last week. The team is under construction - goalkeeper Tifiloski and midfielder duo Spasojevic and Cukic are the latest additions to the squad. Nitra crushed Kosice 4:0 at home last season.
Pick: Nitra at 1.57 at Bwin
FK Senica – MFK Dubnica , Saturday 19:30 CET
Coach Stanislav Griga enjoyed his first win with Senica last round, a win that was sweeter because it was away from home too. Newly signed Jakub Divis played an excellent match and scored the only goal in Presov. Senica play their first home match today and come here high on spirit after a vital away win. The young side of Dubnica won Ruzomberok(1:0) last round but could have lost the match if it wasn’t for goalkeeper Bajza, who kept a clean sheet despite facing several goal threats.
Pick: Senica at 1.80 at Bwin
Spartak Trnava – 1. FC Tatran Prešov , Saturday 19:30 CET
Trnava suffered a surprising loss to the newcomers from Zlate Moravce(2:0) last round while Presov lost Senica(0:1) at home. Tatran seems to be troubeled in the attack as they are without a single goal scored so far. And this could be even harder today as Spartak is extremly strong team in front of their fans. The european football candidate against the relegation contender.
Pick: Trnava at 1.44 at Bwin
MFK Ružomberok – FK DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda Saturday 19:30 CET
Ruzomberok is another team that still haven’t finished their own squad construction. Tomas Vlcek joined coach Jurkemik’s side earlier this week, while Ermio Santana Lopes could be another signing in the upcoming days. He, however, suffered an injury and wont be able to play today. Dunajska Streda are looking for a few more players too. Mario Breska, Milan Pacanda and Boya could sign for DAC soon, while Michal Filo from Banska Bystrica is already in the squad and ready to take his place in the attack today. All three games between these sides ended in draw last season.
Pick: Draw at 1.95 at Bwin
ŠK Slovan Bratislava – ViOn Zlaté Moravce , Sunday 19:30 CET
Two offensive minded teams , Slovan and Zlate Moravce , meet in Pasienky this Sunday. Slovan took an important point against Zilina last round but the biggest surprise happened when Bratislava stunned CZ Beograd with a 2:1 away win from home for the Europa League qualification, last Thursday. What is more, Slovan had to play with 10 players for over 70 minutes! Altough ViOn are the newcomers this season, they have already showed they can be a very dangerous side too. Two goals of striker Peter Oravik got them a win against Trnava at home last week, which was an unexpected result. Now they have nothing to lose when they face the top team of the league and that could be their advantage today, let alone Slovan could still feel the Thursday`s match in their feet.
Pick: Slovan at 1.95 at Bwin
