All the big guns are out in Cincinnati this week for the ATP Western and Southern Masters, where Roger Federer and Andy Murray head the betting.

At time of writing the aforementioned are locked in a deadly duel in the final of the Rogers Cup in Toronto, and the two protagonists are 3.75 (Federer) and 4.33 (Murray) to triumph in this prestigious US Open warm up event.

Federer is the defending champion and brings a lifetime 19-6 record to the event. The Swiss star hasn't been pulling up many trees in recent weeks and as a consequence has 'slumped' to three in the world rankings.

That said he showed glimpses of his genius in Canada last week and cannot be discounted on this type of track.

So too Murray, who put in an all too rare stellar week in Toronto after struggling for form and fitness for much of the 2010 campaign.

The Scot won this event in 2008 and the former US Open finalist (junior US Open winner) is clearly at home on the zippy hard courts of North America.

Murray has endured well documented split from his coach but showed at the Rogers Cup that he is still a handful for anyone when in the mood.

He's in a decent quarter of the draw but given fatigue could be a problem after his exertions in the week I don't see any value backing him at said odds.

The line up in Cincy is formidable, with the likes of Rafael Nadal (4.00), Novak Djokovic (8.00) and David Nalbandian (13.00) all in the mix.

The man who could go close however is Tomas Berdych.

The Czech powerhouse has never previously been beyond the quarter-finals here but he's been bang on form this term and has taken some noticeable scalps.

Only a final set tie-breaker scuppered him against Federer in Canada and he has the big, booming game to star in this one.

It's been quite a season for the 24-year-old, who made the final in Miami earlier this year in similar conditions before losing to Andy Roddick.

Berdych is up as high as seven in the world these days thanks in no small part to making the last four at the French Open and at Wimbledon. The big man has had a big summer and looks a dark horse for glory at Flushing Meadow.

He's always had potential and the ability to roll with the big boys but the 6'5 Monte Carlo resident is now finding some much needed consistency.

Either Paul-Henri Mathieu or Victor Hanescu await in his first match but Nadal looks the main threat in his quarter.

The Iberian pulled his pants down somewhat at SW19 a month back but the conditions in Cincy should be meat and drink to the Czech, who has one of the best serves on the main Tour.

'Berdy' has won titles in each of the last three years and with his game in shape he can go mighty close here, so looks well worth a punt at current 17.00 odds at Bet365.
