English Npower League 2 Preview: Week 4
It has been a tough start to the season for Stockport, with no wins from their first three games, but one man at Edgeley Park has enjoyed a successful opening to the campaign.
Striker George Donnelly has bagged two goals in three league games so far and is confident that his partnership with the experienced Barry Conlon will reap dividends. "We have made a real effort in training to get to understand each other's game and it is definitely progressing each week as we get more used to each other," Donnelly told skysports.com this week. "Baz is just the sort of centre-forward that I need to help me improve and I reckon we could help get the best out of each other this season." The 22-year-old, who is on loan from Plymouth, is Stockport's best hope of making an impact this season as they look to stabilise after a turbulent time on and off the field. He also ended last term at the Hatters and that should ensure that he doesn't have too much adjusting to do as he enjoys his first taste of life on the bottom rung of the Football League ladder. Shrewsbury are Saturday's visitors to Edgeley Park and they will be confident of bouncing back after a 2-1 defeat against Premier League Stoke in the Carling Cup in midweek. The Shrews put in a decent display at the Britannia Stadium but boss Graham Turner isn't dwelling on that result and has been quick to turn his attention quickly back to the league. Turner's men are available at 3.00 to win this match but Stockport could make things difficult and they have already held promotion hopefuls Wycombe to a draw at home this season. The hosts may not quite have enough to claim victory but Donnelly is in a good run of form and the 3.10 with Coral for the striker to score anytime looks worth some interest. PICK:
