Los Angeles Kings vs Detroit Red Wings
The Kings had been methodically building their roster for several years. Last season they signed Stanley Cup champion Rob Scuderi, one of the most prominent defense-men in the market, and veteran Ryan Smyth. The hosts have high expectations for themselves this year and that is to qualify for the playoff. But forward Anze Kopitar must at least show that he is on the way to becoming recognized as a legitimate, number one center across the league. The Kings will also need young goaltender Jonathan Quick to lead the team like the two previous seasons.
The Wings will need to improve their penalty-kill. If they show their improvement during the regular season, they will have another long run in the playoffs. We can expect the Wings to be highly motivated, angry and tenacious this season. Detroit lose some veterans in previous years, but they have a talented players Hudler, Helm, Filppula, Ericsson and the same top five guys in Lidstrom,. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen and Rafalski. On paper, there are at best three playoff spots in play in the Western Conference.
The visitors are a Stanley Cup contender because the front-line players on offense and defense are better than almost anyone else in the NHL....away win for Detroit at 2.55 at Bwinand over 5,5 goals at 2.00 at Betsson.com
