Sometimes it just pays to have a whinge if you want to get a problem off your chest and so it appears to be the case with Ryan Harley who is back on the scoring trail for Exeter after his winter drought in League One.

It was only last week that the talented 26-year-old playmaker was bemoaning the close attention of his markers in stifling his ability to affect the course of matches but, two games on, he's clearly feeling much better about himself with three goals that have taken his tally for the season to 14.

Now the attacking midfielder appears to be back to his unstoppable best and he looks a stonking price to score anytime at 2.87 against Hartlepool on Saturday

It's not stretching the superlatives to say Harley is too good for this division because he clearly is, having moved to Swansea for a significant sum in the January window, but the Jacks have done the Grecians a massive favour by allowing him to see out the campaign at St James Park on loan.

And Harley suddenly seems intent on delivering a series of deadly parting shots to those who think they can stop him in his tracks by assigning a player to chaperone him around the pitch and occasionally dish out some of the rough stuff.

His goal in last weekend's 3-1 win at Charlton might have arrived from the penalty spot but Carlisle were helpless to prevent him from putting Paul Tisdale's men in pole position with a quickfire double salvo in a virtuoso first-half display at Brunton Park on Tuesday

And now that Harley's got his mojo back, you'd have to fancy his chances of finding the scoresheet once more against a Hartlepool side coming off the back of three tough games against top-six opposition.

After experiencing contrasting fortunes against Charlton and MK Dons, their eight-day examination culminated with a hard-fought goalless draw against Southampton in midweek, leaving the them feeling a little leggy ahead of their a six-hour journey down to Devon.

Pools are clearly no mugs, as that most recent result would illustrate, but they will probably fancy their chances enough to adopt a more expansive approach against the Grecians.

Either way, you look at Harley's scoring rate when he's in the groove; combined with the fact that Hartlepool have shipped 19 goals in their last six away matches and you have to conclude that the price is one worth snapping up.
