Tennis: Murray training hard for Rome
We haven’t seen Murray play so badly in Monte-Carlo for a couple of years. Murray has said he will not shirk the responsibility for his slump in form and intends to solve the problem himself.
And he quickly showed a strong attitude as he dropped in rankings to No.5 in the world. With Andy Roddick and Robin Soderling close behind him and a lot of points to defend over the next two months, Murray needs to improve his form. Instead of competing in Barcelona, Murray has opted to return to the Sanchez-Casal academy where he spent the latter part of his teenage years honing his game. He intends to put in a week of hard practice with clay-court coach Alex Corretja ahead of the Rome Masters.
"I sat down with Miles Maclagan, (his coach) and Alex Corretja, (a coaching advisor), and spoke about making sure my priority was to peak for the Grand Slams, but also that I can still play great tennis at the Masters and try to win every match that I play in.”
"The sooner I start winning again and going further in tournaments, the better for me. But I can't get there if I play like that."
Murray told reporters - "I need to sort myself out now. There's stuff that goes on with tennis and things off court can affect it. You just need to make sure you keep all your problems out of it. By the French I want to be playing good tennis again."
We really hope to see him improve and go further in Rome and at Rolland Garros. Good luck and bet smart.
